Carnelian Mineral
Description
Carnelian is a brownish red to orange variety of the mineral Chalcedony (quartz). The color of the stone can vary within the sample from pale yellow and orange to darker orange and reddish brown. Carnelian is a popular gemstone for jewelry and collecting. Carnelian has a moderate to high hardness, no cleavage, white streak and a waxy to resinous luster.
