Description
Typically composed
of the copper ore bornite, peacock ore gets its name from the colorful
iridescent sheen due to the tarnish on the surface. Bornite is a soft mineral with a metallic
luster and a gray to black streak. Peacock ore can also
be the result of acid-treated chalcopyrite.
An information card with details on the mineral formation, characteristics, and uses is included. Typical sample sizes are generally 1-2 inches in length or width but can vary based on availability and natural crystal shape.
